OpoSoft DVD to Apple TV Converter is a commercial DVD ripper. It can be used to convert your DVD movies into video files that your AppleTV will gladly play. AppleTVs and pretty much every Apple device require that a file be encoded using H.264, MPEG-4, or MOV. This app can convert your files to the first two. It comes with a few conversion profiles for the AppleTV and some for the iPad, iPod, iPhone and Android. There are 5 profiles for the ATV; three use H.264 and the rest, MPEG-4. There are two "HD" profiles, and one of them uses a resolution of 720p.
Graphically, this app looks like all other OpoSoft DVD rippers and converters. There is a video player for quick video playback, access to the video editing features from the right toolbar, and the conversion settings go at the bottom. The interface is nice and intuitive.
When you load a DVD, all the DVD titles that make it up will be listed, and the main ones will be selected. You can then click on them to trim or crop them or to play them.
Unfortunately, you don't get an estimate of the size your files will have when you convert them, and you can't choose different formats for different titles. But those are small details.
